Baklava gelato with organic rose oil
The history of the Baklava is quite controversial and also sparsely documented. Many ethnic groups like the Greeks, Turks, and Middle Easterners claim baklava as their own traditional dessert and prepare it in their own way.
Whatever the historical controversies, the fact is that baklava is a delicious traditional dessert made of layers of crispy golden brown phyllo, filled with chopped nuts(in our recipe walnuts) and garnished with lemon scented syrup.
Today I will not rewrite the history of baklava, but I'm thrilled to introduce my own version of Baklava Gelato created completely from scratch here at Delini Gelato.
This scrumptious delicacy is made with my mom's perfectly balanced recipe for baklava, which we often enjoyed as kids. To make the baklava gelato absolutely unique, I’ve added real Organic Bulgarian Rose Oil which probably deserves a post of its own. We work with the highest-end Organic Bulgarian Rose Oil, directly imported from Bulgaria from the oldest operating rose farm in the world.
Rose oil is also by a long mile the most expensive oil used in the gourmet food industry with a whopping price of $600 per fl oz (33ml)!
