"I still remember the scent of fresh spices and specially selected products that my mother and grandmother used when they cooked for the family. I didn’t know their names - just the flavor. I wanted to try, I wanted to help and be part of every step of the preparation process. A moment which was only minutes, but seemed endless to me back then..."
My name is Viktoria Petkova, and I was born and raised in the charming mountain town of Gabrovo, Bulgaria. My childhood was joyful, filled with games and laughter. I set my sights on a career in Economics—studying accounting in high school, followed by Business Administration and Economics in both undergrad and grad school. While still studying, I began working as an accountant at a well-established company, where I spent three and a half wonderful and rewarding years.
My life completely changed in the summer of 2010, when I met the love of my life and now my husband. He’s an exceptional software engineer who lived in Boston at the time. I had a dilemma to solve - follow my heart or continue my very successful accountant career. It was hard to leave my family behind and abandon my career that I was building for a decade, but I did it for love. I emigrated from Bulgaria to the United States and left the corporate world. A couple of years later in 2012, I was holding our one and only child Delina in my arms, a moment that I will never forget and will always be thankful for.
In the summer of 2015, our family went on an amazing month-long trip in Italy where we fell in love with the culture, food, desserts, and especially the gelato. This was the moment when I decided to empower my European roots and traditions and show my passion for food by creating truly authentic and artisanal products made of pure, local, and organic ingredients.
Over the next three years, I spent most of my time in Europe, where I had the privilege of meeting and working with incredible gelato chefs and artisans, learning the craft of true artisan gelato as it was meant to be.
I discovered that gelato is so much more than just mixing milk with pre-made powder base mixes and adding flavors—it should be a handcrafted creation, shaped by tradition, passion, research, and innovation.
