Our story

Tradition

"I still remember the scent of fresh spices and specially selected products that my mother and grandmother used when they cooked for the family. I didn’t know their names - just the flavor. I wanted to try, I wanted to help and be part of every step of the preparation process. A moment which was only minutes, but seemed endless to me back then..."

Who am I

My name is Victoria Petkova and I was born and raised in a small Bulgarian mountain town - Gabrovo. My childhood was joyful and filled with many games and child laughter. I had set myself on the Economics career path - studying accounting in high school and later Business Administration and Economics in undergrad and grad school. While still studying I started working as an accountant in a well-established company where I worked three and a half wonderful and rewarding years.

Gabrovo Etar

My life completely changed in the summer of 2010, when I met the love of my life and now my husband. He’s an exceptional software engineer who lived in Boston at the time. I had a dilemma to solve - follow my heart or continue my very successful accountant career. It was hard to leave my family behind and abandon my career that I was building for a decade, but I did it for love. I emigrated from Bulgaria to the United States and left the corporate world. A couple of years later in 2012, I was holding our one and only child Delina in my arms, a moment that I will never forget and will always be thankful for.

In the summer of 2015, our family went on an amazing month-long trip in Italy where we fell in love with the culture, food, desserts, and especially the gelato. This was the moment when I decided to empower my European roots and traditions and show my passion for food by creating truly authentic and artisanal products made of pure, local, and organic ingredients.

In the next three years, I spent most of my time in Europe and I had the privilege to meet and work with some amazing gelato chefs & artisans, learning the art of crafting true artisan gelato as it was meant to be.

I learned that gelato is more than just mixing milk with pre-ready powder base mixes and adding the desired flavor - it should be a product handcrafted by tradition, emotion, research, and innovation.

Why the name "Delini"?

We chose the name “Delini” most importantly because of our infinite love to our daughter Delina. Delina also means noble.
